About FreeG1

FreeG1 exists for one reason: to help anyone in Ontario pass their G1 knowledge test — for free. Getting your first licence should not depend on paying for a study app or deciphering a booklet written in shorthand.

What we do

We turn the official rules of the road into clear, plain-English lessons, crisp traffic-sign guides, a dedicated numbers trainer, and unlimited practice questions and mock exams in the real test format. Everything is written to be understood, not memorised blindly — because a driver who understands the rule is a safer driver.

Where our content comes from

Every lesson, question and number is grounded in the official MTO Driver's Handbook and current Ontario law. We rewrite it in our own words and check it against official sources, but we do not copy it.

New drivers, newcomers to Canada, and anyone retaking the test. If you can read this page, you can study here — no payment, no download required.

Important: we are not the government

FreeG1 is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected tothe Government of Ontario, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), or DriveTest. “G1” refers to the Ontario licence class. For official information and to book your test, always use Ontario's official channels.
